NHL charity institution: Lion charity institution opens in Denver

News

COLORADO — The Colorado Hockey Foundation announced Tuesday that it will open its first charity institution in Denver, the Lincoln Foundation Charity Center.

The foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, will operate as the foundation’s primary and secondary operations center in Denver.

The foundation will be based in a 1,400-square-foot building on Main Street at Colorado State University, just off of the University of Colorado campus.

In partnership with the Colorado School of Mines and the National Museum of American History, the center will house the organization’s collection of donated art, artifacts, and historical artifacts, including a collection of bronze lions, which are exhibited in the museum.

The Denver location will be open seven days a week, but the foundation hopes to expand its services to other locations in the Denver area.

The foundation will also continue to support the Colorado Rockies baseball team through the 2018 postseason.

The organization has not yet decided how much the center’s annual budget will be.

The Foundation will be donating $20 million over three years to the foundation.
